I'm going to go ahead and assume you haven't heard of this awesome internet service called Pandora. What it is, is you type in a name of a band/artist or song, and it will create a radio station for you populated with similar music. Ergo, possibly tuning you into things you'd like but may never heave heard of. I know I've been using it a lot (My Joe Satriani radio rocks. Without it, I would never have discovered Gary Hoey's amazing "Frankenstein" cover) lately, and I absolutely have to recommend the service to anyone who likes music, and especially people who like to broaden their musical horizons. Of course it would be, but to reiterate my point, I don't think that works over the internet.

I don't think slipping them cocaine works over the internet. I really just don't think anyone cares enough to join.

As it stands, nobody wants to post on the forums. I doubt anybody's gonna volunteer to build new ones.

This seems like an excellent idea. I approve wholeheartedly.

Exactly. I guess I just phrased it poorly. It's not so much "take" as it is "delete".

NEWS FLASH!
Turns out the way it works is you can give or take a karma point from one person a day. Though it would seem that someone figured that out already.

I'll take a look into this new forum thingy you suggest, but I'm not going to promise anything. I guess I'll ask for help if I need it. Then again, if we're running it off our own server I guess Edwin could take care of it, but he tends to like to take his time with projects like that (see our "wallpapers" page). We'll see.
Karma is basically just the user's reputation. If you think someone deserves a tip of the hat, add to their karma (exalt). If they've earned a wag of the finger, take away from it (smite). I forget exactly how this system works, but I think you can give or take from any given user once a day. I have a million because I'm the admin and I feel like making people think I'm popular.

Well, I poke in here once in a while in hopes that maybe someone has something to say. I have long since learned to live with crushing disappointment.

What a kind comment!
But, like always, my work kind of goes in waves. Sometimes I'm really excited about a comic, and I'll pour a lot of work into it. Other times I'll either be stretched thin for time or just not overly enthusiastic, and the product will be less than satisfactory.
I've actually been looking over the archive tonight, and I've got to say that I really love my work when it's good, and I think that I'll just have to keep that in mind whenever it comes time to draw a comic, so that shitty ones are fewer and farther between.
Also, I would probably update those pages, but A)I forgot how (and if I can) and B)I'm almost never on the computer and when I am I'm busy doing a comic, typing something relating to the comic (this for example), or stalking people over MySpace (in-joke).

Personally, I'd suggest sitting on Fark. Most of the links there are pretty funny to begin with, so that should make it pretty easy. Plus, it covers a wide variety of topics, and most stories are about commonfolk, so practicaly everyone can relate.
The only big issue about playing off news stories is timing. If we run a comic about something that happened two weeks ago, it loses a little luster. So frankly, even if I did work up the gusto to do a bunch of comics ahead of time, it would make each one increasingly outdated.

For the most part, I think it's a good idea. The only problem is that by picking something that niche, we'll kind of be alienating anyone who doesn't know anything/care about that kind of stuff. Mainly myself. I mean, how much sense does it make for me to draw a comic about something I don't really care about?
I'm not opposed to the idea in itself, just the part about centering the comic on technology.

Huzzah! I'll take that as a vote in my favour. But just for the record, what do you think of the alternate scripts? Would they have been better or worse?

I can't promise more Jerry (that's really Edwin's domain), but I can't imagine that he won't be back someday.
As for filler, I guess for the most part we follow the basic VG Cats mantra, where one-panelers count as filler. We're not Marmaduke, after all. Also, random art and stuff like our friend Jerry there fall into the filler category.

Meh. There was nothing there that I was thinking of when I added the "no smartass coments" bit.
Spare! is there not so much to entertain, but to provide nostaliga for Edwin, and so I can save them from the terrible fate of fading away (what with the originals being penicl on paper, a medium that doesn't age too well). Though later on in the series, it does become less of a big in-joke. I think "a school-oriented version of Dilbert" would describe it best. Or maybe not so much.
And Edwin doesn't see ads because he tampered with some file thing somewhere that makes them disappear (for him).
